Canada's Industry played
The industry for Canada was great during the war. With demands for war supplies being so high created so many thing for Canada. For example more jobs were being created in factories. This meant that more people were making money and that means they were spending more. This made Canada's economy better.

WomanWomen took over the mens jobs while they were at war. Women could now working in factories making supplies needed for the war. Also becoming volunteers in fundraising, distributing aid, hospital service, and providing the soldiers with care packages. Without the women taking over, the war could have been very different for Canada. It was mostly women that had taken over these volunteer roles to help Canadian soldiers and took over the roles of men. This made women a big part of contributing to the war.

Important Events that Effected Canada
Halifax Explosion
During 1917 in the Hudson's Bay there were ship leaving and coming from the war. While two boat were in the harbor they collided. One had ammunition and explosives for the war. when they collided it cause the ammunition and explosives to explode. Destroying most of the city by the water and killing about 2000 people and injuring about another 9000. This was the biggest explosion in the world the nuclear bomb went off.
Conscription Crisis
Prime minister had orinally said there would be no conscription or compulsory enlistment. Then less people started signing up for war. To win Vimy Ridge they needed way more men. The Prime minister decided to introduce the Military Service Act. This made enlistment compulsory with the exceptions of people with essential jobs, disabled, and religious beliefs against war. This Act divided the country and made lasting scars on our country.

War Measures Act+This act gave the government control over everything during World War I
+It was the first time the Canadian federal government could intervene directly in the economy +This act got rid of +If you were suspected of trying to do something that would affect Canada you would be thrown in jail until the war was over and so you could have a trial Internment Camps
+ They held anyone how they thought was an enemy alien.
- Most of the people put in them were from Austria-Hungary and Germany. + More than 8,000 people were placed into these camps. +People who were healthy enough were put to work to build things. + Around 100 people died either from bad health or from trying to escape. Rationing
+People were told to reduce the amount of supplies they use and have like food, fuel, etc...
+ This caused the price in supplies to go up but the wages could keep up with those costs. + This led to strikes and labor unrest + |

The home front became a major part for the war effort. With our industries producing tons of equipment, food, munition, etc.... to send to the Allies. Also our military researchers making and developing new war technologies.

World War I showed a whole new side of Canada to the world. With the home front supplying very they could for the war show the determination of the nation. This continued through out the whole war.
